The development of a single piece of pottery happens in many stages. You will need to select two classes, that are at least 2 days apart to allow for proper drying of your piece.
Once you complete the class, you will have two tangible pieces of pottery to take home.
-
The first class we will focus on prepping the clay for use, centering clay on the wheel, and creating two pieces.
The second class we will spend time trimming and finalizing the shape of your pieces.
Each class is two hours long to provide you with enough time to practice, ask questions, and explore the material.
At the start, I will give a demonstration for each stage of the process. Once you begin on your own, I will be there for guidance along the way.
-
I will provide stoneware clay in a variety of 3 colors that you can choose from. You can select a glaze from what I have available and I will take care of the glazing and final firings for your piece. They will be fired in an electric kiln at cone 04 for bisque and cone 6 for glaze. Your pieces will be ready for pickup within 2-3 weeks and you will receive an email confirmation.
-
My studio is equipped with every tool you will need during the class. The only thing you need to bring is yourself, a positive attitude (working with clay can be a very humbling but fun process), and attire that you do not mind getting a little messy in. If you need to come from work, I have an apron for your use. Light clay is easy to wash off clothing but the dark clay can leave lasting marks.

I understand things happen last minute and I will try my best to be flexible but running a business has its own unique set of challenges. I cannot offer any refunds for cancellations less than 10 days before your scheduled class.

My studio is located in SoDo. Once you purchase your class, an email will be sent out with all of the necessary details for attending, including the studio address.
